Apostle of minimalism, Susanne Brokesch aka DJ SIL won her right to be part of a male-centric music industry the only way she could have: through sheer talent.
If Pulsinger and Tunakan's Techno high priest had been Rob Hood, Brokesch's Motor City idol must have been Kelli Hand, or at least I'd like to think so. They shared two important qualities: massive talent and bravery, and a strong sense of pride towards their womanliness ("Starting with the ladies" says the vocal sample opening "Old Shep"). However sad it feels to state that a woman had (and in many ways still has) to be brave in order to achieve equal recognition and be judged for "simple" things like talent instead of gender.

"Simple" is the right hashtag when you approach this release (also a very Detroitian thing...less is more..), but simple doesn't mean banal.
You can deduce it already by her choice of song titles.
Silver glasses, Kitchen Phone, Bus Terminal: simple and single objects as carriers of emotions to be elaborated.
Her tracks develop similarly. There rarely are more than 4 channels open at the same time, and sounds, samples or drums, or chords tidily peek out singularly, like blown dandelion seeds, carefully lead by the gentle, pondered wind of her creativity while effectively reaching your eardrums.
So close your eyes and hop on this white cloud, don't worry about the height.
